Actor Kiefer Sutherland was taken into custody in the early hours of Monday following a report of an altercation with a ride-hailing driver, as confirmed by authorities. The incident occurred shortly after midnight near the junction of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Ave., just south of Hollywood Hills. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 59-year-old Canadian actor, known for his Emmy award-winning performances, allegedly assaulted the driver after entering the ride-hailing vehicle and issued criminal threats towards them. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries requiring medical attention at the time.

Law enforcement officials arrested Sutherland on suspicion of making criminal threats. He was subsequently released from detention a few hours later after posting a $50,000 US bond, as per jail records. His initial court appearance is slated for Feb. 2, as indicated in the records. Attempts to reach out to Sutherland’s representatives for comment remained unanswered.

Sutherland gained fame for his iconic role as federal agent Jack Bauer in the high-stakes TV series “24” on Fox, along with various spinoffs. Additionally, he starred in films such as “The Lost Boys” and “Young Guns,” and featured in movies like “Stand by Me” and “A Few Good Men,” directed by Rob Reiner.
