Pop singer Chappell Roan announced her departure from the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman, the chief of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, following scrutiny over his past communication with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell. Wasserman has issued an apology for his interactions with Maxwell, acknowledging the release of private emails between them.
Recently disclosed files linked to the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell’s former partner, contained flirtatious email exchanges between Wasserman and Maxwell dating back to 2003. Roan took to Instagram to declare her separation from Wasserman’s agency, emphasizing the importance of artists having representation that upholds their values and safeguards their well-being.
Wasserman, a prominent figure in sports and entertainment, has denied any personal or professional ties to Epstein. He clarified that his association with Maxwell occurred prior to the revelation of her criminal activities. The talent agency in question refrained from providing an immediate response to the situation.
Maxwell, who received a 20-year prison sentence in 2021 for charges including the trafficking of minors, was arrested in 2020 following accusations of procuring and grooming young girls for Epstein. The release of extensive internal documents by the U.S. Justice Department has shed light on Epstein’s connections with various influential individuals, both before and after his conviction in 2008. His death in 2019 while in custody was ruled a suicide.
