During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, President Donald Trump expressed hopes of resolving the conflict without the need for Tomahawk missiles. Ukraine has requested assistance with advanced missile systems to combat Russia’s invasion.

However, Trump indicated that no commitment had been made yet. He expressed a desire to conclude the conflict without resorting to the use of Tomahawk missiles.

Here are some key details about the Tomahawk missile and its potential role in the conflict.

The Tomahawk is a long-range missile with a reach of at least 1,600 kilometers, extendable to 2,400 kilometers in some cases. Known for flying at low altitudes to evade detection, it offers precise target guidance.

Though the U.S. possesses a significant number of Tomahawk missiles, reports suggest that the stockpile is diminishing. Recent usage figures indicate a decrease in supply, with only 22 new missiles ordered by the Pentagon in 2024 and no new requests in the current budget cycle.

Trump referenced this issue in a recent statement, recounting a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin about supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, a proposal that Putin
