Must read

Aubrey Plaza is set to embark on a new journey as she anticipates the arrival of her first child with partner Chris Abbott. A spokesperson for Plaza confirmed the news, describing it as a delightful surprise following a challenging year and expressing gratitude for the blessing.

Although CBC News attempted to reach out to Plaza’s representatives for further comments, no response has been received. Plaza, known for her roles in “White Lotus” and as an alumna of “Girls,” has not publicly acknowledged her relationship with Abbott, but the pair has a shared history as co-stars.

The duo appeared together in the 2020 film “Black Bear” and also collaborated in the off-Broadway revival of “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” in 2023. Aside from her successful acting career, Plaza has authored several children’s books, including “The Legend of the Christmas Witch” in 2021 and its sequel, “The Return of the Christmas Witch,” in 2022.

During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Plaza revealed the inspiration behind her stories, detailing a unique Christmas morning tradition involving her friends’ children and a playful element of surprise.

The news of Plaza’s pregnancy comes approximately a year after the passing of her husband, Jeff Baena, in January 2025. Baena, a renowned director and writer, tragically died by suicide at the age of 47. Plaza discussed the loss of her husband during an episode of Amy Poehler’s podcast, “Good Hang,” highlighting the ongoing emotional struggle she faces.

Opening up about her grief, Plaza drew a poignant analogy to the film “The Gorge,” illustrating her feelings of navigating a vast ocean of darkness and monsters. Despite the challenges, Plaza expressed gratitude for being able to navigate through her grief on a daily basis.
