Canadian Swimmers Shine at Toronto World Cup

Canadian swimmers Josh Liendo and Ilya Kharun showcased outstanding performances at the swimming World Cup event in Toronto on Friday. Liendo clinched the gold in the men’s 100-meter freestyle, setting a new Canadian record with a time of 45.30 seconds, surpassing Americans Jack Alexy (45.55) and Chris Guiliano (45.71). Additionally, Finlay Knox from Okotoks, Alta., claimed third place in the men’s 200m individual medley.

Mollie O’Callaghan of Australia set a new world record in the women’s 200m freestyle with a time of 1:49.36. In the women’s 400m individual medley, Mary-Sophie Harvey from Trois-Rivières, Que., achieved a personal best, securing second place behind Ireland’s Ellen Walshe. Harvey expressed her satisfaction with her performance and the experience of competing in Toronto.
