The charges came to light during a court session in Dedham, Massachusetts, where Diggs was accused of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery.
In response to the allegations, Diggs’s attorney, David Meier, vehemently denied the charges, stating that they are baseless and unsubstantiated. Meier attributed the accusations to a financial disagreement between Diggs and his ex-employee, claiming that the timing of the allegations was directly linked to their unresolved financial dispute.
The New England Patriots issued a statement expressing their support for Diggs amid the legal proceedings. The team affirmed their backing for the player during this challenging time.
According to a police report filed with the court, a woman alleged that Diggs assaulted her during a financial discussion while she was working as his private chef. The woman claimed that Diggs struck her, attempted to choke her, and forcibly pushed her onto a bed when she inquired about payment for her services.
Initially reluctant to press charges, the woman changed her stance and decided to pursue legal action against Diggs after seeking payment for her work and facing hurdles in receiving compensation.
