“Cross-Regional Efforts Intensify in Search for Missing Boy”

Must read

After an extensive five-day search in challenging terrain, efforts to locate a young boy missing in the Crowsnest Pass area are being bolstered with fresh search teams arriving from Saskatchewan and increased RCMP assistance.

The six-year-old, identified as Darius Macdougall, disappeared on Sunday morning while out for a walk with relatives at a campground near Blairmore, Alberta.

During a recent video press briefing, Adam Kennedy of Search and Rescue Alberta announced the deployment of additional search units from Saskatchewan to relieve volunteer searchers from Alberta and British Columbia. He emphasized the collaboration with resources from across the region to support the search mission.

Contrary to public concerns, Alberta RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney clarified on Friday that there are no plans to reduce search efforts. The current deployment includes 60 Tactical Support Group officers assisting in search operations to complement ground teams, aerial support, drones, and K-9 units scouring the area for any trace of the missing boy.

Given that the child has autism, search tactics are being adapted to accommodate his condition, such as avoiding loud noises and bright lights, especially during nighttime operations.

Despite the challenges, search morale remains high, with optimism prevailing among searchers that Macdougall will be located safely. The search area contains water sources, providing hope for the boy’s survival, as humans can endure extended periods without food.
