“Ontario Launches $75M Anti-Tariff Campaign for U.S. Republicans”

Must read

Ontario has allocated $75 million for a new campaign targeting Republican voters in the United States with an anti-tariff message. The campaign features a recording of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan from 1987 emphasizing the negative long-term effects of tariffs. Premier Doug Ford, an admirer of Reagan, believes that using Reagan’s voice will resonate with Republicans and convey the message that tariffs will ultimately harm Americans.

The advertisement is set to debut this week on Newsmax and Bloomberg, with plans to expand to other major networks including Fox News, Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, and ABC, as well as their local affiliates. Additionally, the ad will be broadcast on local stations owned by Comcast, Spectrum, and Sinclair Group.

This initiative is not the first of its kind from the Ontario government, which previously ran anti-tariff ads emphasizing the strong historical ties between Canada, Ontario, and the United States.
