Toyota has issued a recall for 32,733 vehicles in Canada after Transport Canada flagged a rearview camera issue that may heighten the risk of accidents. According to a recent notice, a malfunction in the rearview camera could lead to incorrect or no display of the image, contravening Canadian regulations mandating the display of the image when a vehicle is in reverse.
The defective rearview camera image may hinder a driver’s visibility while reversing, potentially escalating the likelihood of collisions, as stated in the notice. The recall affects all Sequoia models manufactured from 2023 to 2025 and all Tundra models, including hybrids, produced between 2022 and 2025 with a 14-inch multimedia display.
Toyota will inform impacted vehicle owners through written notifications, but they can also verify if their vehicle is part of the recall by checking Toyota’s recall database. Owners of affected models can visit a Toyota dealership to update the multimedia display software in their vehicles.
