Vancouver Rise FC clinched the final playoff spot in the Northern Super League after a 1-1 draw against Halifax Tides FC. This result secured their place alongside AFC Toronto, Ottawa Rapid FC, and Montreal Roses FC in the upcoming women’s pro soccer league postseason.
The match saw Milly Clegg netting her first goal of the season for the Tides in the 14th minute, countered by Holly Ward’s sixth goal for the Rise in the 62nd minute. Despite Halifax earning their third draw in six games, Vancouver dominated possession with 65% and outshot their opponents 23-5 at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax.
Meanwhile, Wild FC defeated Roses 2-0, breaking a four-game losing streak for Wild and leaving Calgary (7-13-2) out of playoff contention. Meggie Dougherty-Howard scored Wild’s first goal just before halftime, followed by Jorian Baucom’s goal in the 78th minute, securing the victory. Stephanie Bukovec made six saves for a shutout in Laval, Que.
Although Montreal suffered their second consecutive defeat, they had already secured a playoff berth. Calgary’s loss to Wild meant they missed out on the postseason, keeping Montreal’s playoff hopes alive.
