Jimmy Kimmel will be taking a two-month break from his late-night show and has selected comedian Rosie O’Donnell, a longtime adversary of former President Donald Trump, as one of the guest hosts to fill in during his absence. Kimmel humorously mentioned the break during Thursday night’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, alluding to ABC pulling his show last September over remarks he made about Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel announced that a diverse group of hosts will start taking over from July 6, including Colman Domingo, Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson, and Jelly Roll. He also teased the audience by revealing Rosie O’Donnell as a surprise guest host.
The ongoing feud between O’Donnell and Trump dates back to her criticism of him on “The View” in 2006. Their animosity escalated in early 2025 when O’Donnell disclosed that she had relocated to Ireland along with several other celebrities post-Trump’s re-election. Trump, in July 2025, hinted at revoking O’Donnell’s citizenship, prompting a social media exchange between the two.
Kimmel concluded the announcement of his break with a light-hearted jab at Trump, urging the former president not to make any foolish decisions while he’s away.
