Former U.S. president Barack Obama is scheduled to speak at a Canadian think-tank event in Toronto on Friday. The 44th president will be the keynote speaker at Canada 2020’s gala held at the Fairmont Royal York. During his time in office, Obama visited Canada three times, with his first visit in 2009 to meet former prime minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa. Subsequently, he attended G8 and G20 summit meetings and the North American Leaders’ Summit in Canada. This event in Toronto will be his second visit to the city, although it is not open to the media. Canada 2020 focuses on advancing policy discussions to foster a more equitable, inclusive, and forward-looking Canada.
