Hannah Brandt secured the decisive goal in the shootout, propelling the Boston Fleet to claim the top spot in the Professional Women’s Hockey League standings after a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Charge on Saturday. Abby Newhook and Alina Müller contributed goals during regulation for the Fleet (8-3-2-2), while Aerin Frankel made 23 saves.

On the other side, Rebecca Leslie netted two goals for the Charge (4-5-1-7) with Gwyneth Phillips recording 21 saves. The matchup showcased a strong start by the Charge in the first period, but the Fleet managed to capitalize on their opportunities.

Müller set up Newhook for a goal late in the first period, breaking the deadlock. The teams struggled to generate offense in the second period, with Ottawa only mustering a couple of shots.

The Charge kicked off the third period on the power play, leading to Leslie’s equalizer from an assist by Emily Clark. Leslie continued her dominance with another goal shortly after, putting Ottawa ahead 2-1. However, the Fleet fought back, with Müller’s shot deflecting off Kathryn Reilly’s skate to level the score at 2-2.

The intense game featured 15 Olympians from the Milano Cortina 2026 Games. Looking ahead, Ottawa will face the Seattle Torrent on March 4, while Boston is scheduled to play against the New York Sirens on March 5.
