“Hannah Brandt’s Shootout Goal Lifts Boston Fleet to Victory”

Must read

Hannah Brandt’s decisive shootout goal propelled the Boston Fleet to a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Charge, securing their position at the top of the Professional Women’s Hockey League standings. Abby Newhook and Alina Müller contributed goals in regulation for the Fleet, while Aerin Frankel made 23 saves.

Rebecca Leslie netted a pair of goals for the Charge, with Gwyneth Phillips stopping 21 shots. Despite a strong start by the Charge, it was the Fleet who capitalized on opportunities.

Müller set up Newhook for a goal late in the first period, breaking the deadlock. The second period saw a lackluster performance from both teams, with Ottawa struggling to generate shots.

In the third period, Leslie found the back of the net twice, putting the Charge in the lead. However, Müller’s shot deflected off Ottawa’s Kathryn Reilly to tie the game at 2-2 on a power play.

Leslie’s impressive performance moved her into a five-way tie for the league’s scoring lead with 16 points, matching Ottawa’s Brianne Jenner. The game featured 15 Olympians from the Milano Cortina 2026 Games.

Looking ahead, Ottawa will face the Seattle Torrent on March 4, while Boston is set to play against the New York Sirens on March 5.
