“Explosive Device Disposed, Residents Return Home in Downtown Prince George”

Must read

RCMP in downtown Prince George, B.C., have permitted residents to return home following the safe disposal of an explosive device discovered during a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on Eighth Avenue. The area was evacuated as officers awaited the arrival of an explosive disposal unit from the Lower Mainland to handle the device.

Local police secured the area until the disposal team arrived in the afternoon. Media relations officer Cpl. Jennifer Cooper confirmed the device as explosive and stated that it was safely disposed of. The investigation leading to the police presence is ongoing.

Residents were allowed back home after the disposal process. This incident occurred on the same street where two separate house fires happened earlier in the week. One fire resulted in an estimated $250,000 in damages to a residence, while the other fire in a different block caused approximately $300,000 in damages to an unoccupied home.

Authorities are investigating both fires but do not believe they are connected. Cooper urges the public to report any suspicious activities to the police for further investigation and potentially uncover illicit activities in the area.
