Alannah Keyser, a 21-year-old contestant, has been ousted from the current season of Love Island USA after a video resurfaced online showing her using a racial slur. This action took place shortly after Keyser, a college student from Miami, made a dramatic entrance during the Casa Amor episodes on the reality dating series hosted on Peacock.
Upon her arrival at the villa on June 21, a Snapchat video surfaced showing Keyser singing along to a song that contained the N-word, believed to be from rapper Roddy Ricch’s track “The Box.” The show’s narrator, Iain Stirling, announced her sudden departure during the episode by simply stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”
Following her initial appearance on Season 8, where she seemed to connect with contestant Zach Georgiou, viewers noticed a decrease in Keyser’s screen time. Some fans observed that she was notably absent from Tuesday’s episode.
Keyser’s removal due to a racial slur is not an isolated incident for this season or the franchise as a whole. Prior to the show’s TV premiere, Vasana Montgomery was removed from the Season 8 cast after old footage of her using a racial slur resurfaced.
In a similar vein, Season 7 also saw cast members being removed for separate incidents. Yulissa Escobar was ousted from the show shortly after the season began due to resurfaced clips of her using racial slurs on a podcast. Escobar later issued an apology on Instagram, acknowledging her mistake and the impact of her words.
Cierra Ortega was also removed from the show for similar reasons, and she shared her apology on TikTok, expressing agreement with the network’s decision and accepting the consequences of her actions.
