“Milan Cortina Winter Olympics Schedule Adjustments Amid Poor Weather”

Must read

Poor weather conditions have led to adjustments in the schedule for the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics in Livigno. The men’s freestyle skiing aerials qualifying, initially set for Tuesday and rescheduled to Thursday, will now take place on Friday at the Livigno Aerials and Moguls Park. Qualifying is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the final following at 1:30 p.m.

In addition, the men’s free ski halfpipe qualifying at Livigno Snow Park, originally planned for Thursday, has been postponed, while women’s qualifying remains scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, pending improved weather conditions.

No new time has been announced for the men’s halfpipe qualifying. The men’s halfpipe final is expected on Friday, with the women’s final scheduled for Saturday. Men’s and women’s freestyle ski cross events are also on the agenda for Friday and Saturday at Livigno Snow Park.

Inclement weather, specifically heavy snow and poor visibility, has disrupted the final week of the Games in Livigno, situated in the Italian Alps near the Swiss border. Previously, weather conditions had been more favorable.

The changes in the schedule were prompted by the threat of unfavorable weather on Monday, leading to the advancement of snowboard slopestyle qualifying. The women’s free ski big air final experienced delays on Monday due to a snowstorm but eventually commenced with Megan Oldham from Canada winning the gold after a 75-minute delay.

Further disruptions occurred on Tuesday, resulting in the postponement of the women’s slopestyle final and both men’s and women’s freestyle aerials qualification. The women’s aerials qualifying and final were eventually held on Wednesday, with the slopestyle finals taking place on Thursday. The men’s freestyle aerials competition was rescheduled for Thursday.

Challenges such as heavy snow, poor visibility, and the inability of the air ambulance to operate in the given conditions contributed to the postponement of the aerials events.
