A chainsaw has been recalled in both Canada and the United States due to a safety concern regarding laceration risks. Individuals who own the Milwaukee Tool M18 FUEL 12” and 14’’ top handle chainsaws are advised to cease using them immediately as per a federal recall and safety advisory. The safety alert states that the chain brake might not effectively stop the chain from moving when activated, creating a potential laceration hazard.
Milwaukee has identified that chainsaws with a serial number containing the letter “A” as the fourth character are impacted by this issue. As of October 21, no incidents or injuries related to this concern have been reported in Canada. However, in the U.S., the company has received one report of a laceration and two other related incidents.
Individuals in possession of the affected chainsaws are encouraged to reach out to Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation to arrange a complimentary repair, as outlined in the safety alert. By registering their tool on Milwaukee Tool’s eService Tool Support platform, they can receive a prepaid shipping label to facilitate the repair process. Additionally, individuals can contact Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation via phone at 833-953-2012, Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET.
Health Canada has collaborated with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation to issue this recall, emphasizing the importance of addressing the safety concerns promptly.
