Must read

Prime Video has made a big announcement for Season 2 of the series “Off Campus,” revealing that Canadian actors Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla will take on the roles of the central couple, Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes. Kalyn will portray the charming hockey defenceman, coming from Markham, Ont., with a background in hockey. Abdalla will play Allie, a student at Briar University who works at Malone’s, the college bar where Dean and his hockey teammates frequent.

The streaming platform introduced this casting news through a video and promotional images, signaling a shift in focus in line with the series’ book-to-screen adaptation approach. Each season of “Off Campus” follows a different couple, mirroring the narrative structure of the popular novels by Toronto author Elle Kennedy. Season 1 was based on “The Deal,” featuring characters Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, while Season 2 is set to draw inspiration from the third book, “The Score,” delving into Dean and Allie’s relationship.

Creator and co-showrunner Louisa Levy expressed excitement about continuing Allie and Dean’s storyline as the primary romance in the upcoming season, highlighting the integral roles of Hannah and Garrett. The series will also introduce new characters, including Philippa Soo as a theatre artist directing a play in the university drama department and India Fowler as Grace Ivers, the love interest of hockey player John Logan and central figure in “The Mistake.”

Returning cast members include Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Antonio Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks. “Off Campus” has emerged as a hit on Prime Video, ranking as the top show on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. With its successful debut, the series garnered 36 million global viewers within the first 12 days of release, marking a strong start for the streaming platform.
