The Prom Project returns to assist high school students in Toronto in finding the perfect attire for their special evening, with the support of numerous donations from the local community. Now in its fourth installment, the initiative offers free new and gently used formal clothing, thanks to the Children’s Breakfast Clubs. This year, the Prom Project has expanded to two locations.
Photographer Evan Mitsui from CBC covered the event in Scarborough, while the second Prom Project took place at Yorkgate Mall on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. ET.
At St. John Paul II Catholic Secondary School in Scarborough, student Gabriel Campilan received assistance from a volunteer in tying a tie. Volunteer Barb Cleveland was stationed at the shoe table, ready to help students. Audrey Morgan was captured trying on shoes, while Marz Elizalde Valadez and Audrey Morgan were seen selecting costume jewelry. Additionally, students were photographed trying on various formal wear items, including jackets and suits.
The initiative aims to provide students with the opportunity to dress up for their prom night without financial constraints, fostering a sense of inclusivity and celebration within the community.
