“Russian Drone Attacks in Ukraine Claim Two Lives”

Must read

According to local officials, a minibus in Kherson, a southern Ukrainian city, was targeted by a Russian drone attack resulting in the deaths of two individuals. This incident is part of Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine, characterized by attacks on civilian areas. Additionally, seven people were injured in the assault, confirmed Oleksandr Prokudin, the regional head. In a subsequent attack in Kherson, another minibus was targeted by Russia, injuring the driver, as reported by Prokudin.

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine mentioned observing “rather unusual” activity along the northern border with Belarus, without providing specific details. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is closely monitoring the situation and will respond accordingly if the situation escalates.

Belarus, a strong ally of Russia, has permitted the use of its territory for Russian troop movements into Ukraine and to host some of Moscow’s tactical nuclear weapons.

On the Black Sea coast of Ukraine, a Russian strike damaged port infrastructure in Odesa but did not result in any casualties. Ukrainian civilians have been enduring continuous air assaults since the commencement of Russia’s full-scale invasion more than four years ago.

Despite U.S.-mediated negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, there has been no relief, with Russia rejecting Ukraine’s ceasefire proposal. The focus on the Iran conflict in recent weeks has diverted international attention from Ukraine’s situation.

Moreover, Russia claimed to have gained control of the village of Myropillia in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region along the approximately 1,250-kilometre front line.

The claims made on the battlefield by Russia regarding the village of Myropillia could not be independently verified, and Ukraine has not responded immediately.

Officials in Russia’s Krasnodar region reported that a fire caused by a Ukrainian strike on an oil terminal in the Black Sea town of Tuapse was extinguished after breaking out on Friday.

Ukrainian drones have targeted the oil refinery and export terminal in Tuapse on multiple occasions in a short period, resulting in fires that led to evacuations and significant smoke emissions.

Ukraine has increased its long-range attacks on Russian oil facilities to reduce Moscow’s oil exports, a crucial source of funding for the invasion of Ukraine. The economic repercussions of these actions remain uncertain as the rise in oil prices due to the Iran conflict and the relaxation of U.S. sanctions have supported Russia’s financial resources.
