Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against an individual who allegedly attempted to enter her residence in Los Angeles without permission, labeling the incidents as “deeply alarming.” Legal documents reveal that Carpenter’s legal team is pursuing a permanent restraining order against 31-year-old William Applegate.
In a sworn statement, Carpenter detailed how on May 23, Applegate intruded onto a neighboring property to breach the security fencing protecting her home, proceeding to approach her front door and physically attempt to gain entry by grabbing the handle. Describing the act as deliberate, calculated, and aggressive, Carpenter expressed profound concern, deeming it one of the most unsettling breaches of her safety and privacy.
Carpenter cited footage from Ring security cameras showing Applegate at her doorstep as evidence, alleging that despite her private security’s intervention, he refused to depart, falsely claiming personal acquaintance with her. Subsequently, Applegate was arrested on the same day, only to return less than 24 hours later and linger outside her residence for an extended period. This behavior persisted for a third consecutive day, prompting police intervention on each occasion.
The legal filings note a pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance by Applegate, causing Carpenter significant emotional distress. Security investigations revealed that the troubling behavior had been ongoing since at least April 20, 2026, with Carpenter highlighting a concerning escalation over the following month. Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department described Applegate’s fixation on Carpenter as disturbing and irrational in a signed declaration.
A judge has mandated that Applegate maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Carpenter, her residence, vehicle, workplace, as well as her sister and sister’s boyfriend who reside with her. A court hearing is scheduled for June 17, with Applegate also facing a criminal court appearance on June 18 related to his arrest for trespassing.
