“Community rallies around lobster business after fire”

Must read

Tammy Victor found a gathering of customers awaiting her when she reached Fisherman’s Wharf in Eastern Passage, N.S., to sell lobster early on Wednesday. The Lobster Dive, co-owned by Victor, was destroyed in a fire suspected to be caused by an electrical issue on Monday. Despite the loss of the building, Victor resumed sales on Wednesday in a nearby red building, which was the original location of her business when it was established 25 years ago and operated for the first 15 years.

Expressing gratitude to the community for their support, Victor mentioned that the response from people visiting since the reopening has been overwhelming. Mark Perry, a customer from Dartmouth, N.S., described The Lobster Dive as a reputable and sincere business. He empathized with their recent loss and decided to purchase lobsters to support them during this challenging time.

Supporting local businesses has become a priority for many individuals, according to Perry, who emphasized the importance of community backing. Another customer, Sam Salley from Dartmouth, shared that upon learning about the fire online, he immediately decided to buy lobsters from The Lobster Dive for his family’s Christmas meal. Salley acknowledged the unfortunate timing of the fire, especially during the holiday season, but felt compelled to show support to Victor and her business.

Victor acknowledged that the decision to reopen on Wednesday was spontaneous. She plans to operate on select days post-Christmas and will update customers through social media posts. Despite the circumstances, Victor remains optimistic, taking each day as it comes.

Overall, the community’s outpouring of support has been heartening for Victor and her business during this challenging period.
