U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to participate in Trump’s initiative known as the Board of Peace, which aims to address global conflicts. However, Putin promptly responded, stating that the invitation was still being considered.
Speaking to reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump confirmed, “He was invited. He’s accepted,” following a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte. Shortly after Trump’s statement, Putin informed the Russian security council that the foreign ministry was currently reviewing the proposal and would provide a response in due time.
Trump defended his decision to involve Russia in the initiative by emphasizing the importance of including all nations, especially those led by influential figures. He acknowledged having controversial individuals on board but emphasized their effectiveness and significant impact in getting things done.
