Canada’s national men’s soccer team is set to play friendly matches against Iceland and Tunisia at Toronto’s BMO Field in the upcoming March international window. The 29th-ranked Canadian team will take on Iceland on March 28 and Tunisia on March 31. Both visiting teams will also play against Haiti during this window in Toronto.
In preparation for the World Cup, Canada will face Uzbekistan in Edmonton on June 1, with one more opponent yet to be revealed. A match against an undisclosed European team is scheduled for June 5 or 6 in Montreal as part of the team’s final World Cup warm-up.
The World Cup journey for Canada will commence on June 12 in Toronto against a European qualifier, followed by matches against Qatar and Switzerland on June 18 and 24 in Vancouver, respectively.
Tunisia, ranked 47th in the world, secured their place in the World Cup by finishing unbeaten atop their African qualifying group with a remarkable 9-0-1 record. Iceland, ranked 74th, missed out on qualification after finishing third in their European qualifying group.
Haiti, ranked 83rd globally, has also qualified for the World Cup. The team recently secured a 1-0 victory over Guatemala in an international friendly match in Los Angeles, with Jacen Russell-Rowe scoring the winning goal off an assist from Malik Henry.
