Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime secures a spot in the ATP Finals as one of the qualifiers. The outcome was dependent on the winner of the Hellenic Championship tennis final between Novak Djokovic from Serbia and Lorenzo Musetti from Italy. Djokovic, who had already qualified for the tournament, claimed victory over Musetti with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, earning his 101st ATP title and setting a record of 72 titles on hard courts. Nevertheless, Djokovic had to withdraw from the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, due to a shoulder injury.
Initially, Musetti needed a win to secure a spot over Auger-Aliassime but will now fill in for Djokovic at the event. The ATP Finals are scheduled to take place from Sunday to Nov. 16. The remaining players in the event include Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Italy’s Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton from the United States, Alex de Minaur from Australia, and Alexander Zverev from Germany.
Auger-Aliassime will kick off the tournament facing Sinner, the current world No. 1 player, in the group-stage match on Monday. The two players clashed in the Paris Open final last Sunday, with Sinner emerging victorious with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (4) to regain the top ranking.
