Must read

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime has secured a spot in the final of the European Open after defeating Belgium’s Raphael Collignon 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the tournament’s semifinals. The Montreal native showcased a strong performance with eight aces, only one double fault, and a 78% first-serve points won rate. Auger-Aliassime capitalized on one of his three break-point opportunities during the one-hour, 45-minute match. In contrast, Collignon, despite recording five aces, struggled with four double faults and failed to create any break-point chances.

Auger-Aliassime, seeded second, is set to face off against third-seeded Jiri Lehecka from Czechia in the final on Sunday. Meanwhile, in a separate event, Canada’s Denis Shapovalov faced a setback in the Stockholm Open semifinals, losing 6-3, 6-4 to Norway’s Casper Ruud. Shapovalov, the third seed, managed six aces and four double faults, converting on one of his five break-point opportunities. Ruud, seeded second, secured victory with two aces, three converted break-point chances out of six, and a solid performance overall.

In the upcoming final, Ruud will compete against France’s Ugo Humbert, who advanced to the final after a walkover against top-seeded Holger Rune of Denmark due to an injury sustained by Rune in the second set.
