Prime Minister Mark Carney will be joining the star-studded lineup at the Junos this year, marking his debut appearance at Hamilton’s TD Coliseum on Sunday night.

Among the notable guests expected at the ceremony are Joni Mitchell, set to receive a prestigious lifetime achievement award, and Nelly Furtado, who will be honored with an induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

A special tribute for Mitchell will be performed by Sarah McLachlan and Allison Russell, while a musical celebration of Furtado’s career will feature Alessia Cara, Jully Black, Shawn Desman, and Tanya Tagaq.

Despite being leading nominees, Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, and The Weeknd are not anticipated to be in attendance.

The Junos, hosted by Mae Martin, known for transitioning from comedy to music, will be broadcast on CBC TV, CBC Gem, and various CBC platforms at 8 p.m. ET this Sunday.
