Rapper Offset Shot Outside Florida Casino

Must read

Rapper Offset, formerly part of the influential hip-hop group Migos, was shot outside a casino in Florida and is currently in stable condition, as confirmed by a spokesperson on Tuesday. Offset, previously married to Cardi B, was receiving medical treatment at a hospital following the shooting on Monday night, although his specific condition remains undisclosed. Authorities stated that Offset’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Over three years ago, Offset’s cousin Takeoff, another Migos member, tragically lost his life in a shooting at a bowling alley in Houston. The recent incident on Monday occurred after a confrontation outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, located north of Miami, according to police reports. While one individual sustained injuries during the altercation, the victim was not identified by authorities.

Law enforcement detained two individuals at the scene, including a rapper identified as Lil Tjay, also known as Tione Jayden Merritt, who faced charges of disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. Lil Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, clarified to The Associated Press that he was not in possession of a firearm and was not charged with any gun-related offenses. Florio mentioned that Lil Tjay posted bail related to the charges and was anticipated to be released later on Tuesday. The second person apprehended has not been formally charged, and investigators are actively working to identify any additional involved parties, as per police statements on Tuesday.

Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, rose to fame as a member of Migos, an Atlanta-based trio renowned for their distinctive triplet flow that significantly impacted the trap music genre. The group gained recognition with their 2013 hit “Versace” and achieved commercial success with chart-topping tracks like “Bad and Boujee,” “Stir Fry,” “Narcos,” and “T-Shirt.” Migos released four successful albums throughout their career, with a chapter closing after the tragic loss of Takeoff.

Offset and Cardi B tied the knot in a private ceremony in Atlanta in September 2017. However, Cardi B announced their separation in 2024, despite sharing three children together.

Quavo, the third member of Migos, took a proactive stance following Takeoff’s shooting by organizing a summit against gun violence in 2024. Authorities revealed that Takeoff was an innocent bystander during the shooting incident, which stemmed from a dispute over a dice game. Takeoff’s untimely passing marked one of several fatal shootings involving hip-hop icons like Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, PnB Rock, and Young Dolph in recent years.

Offset ventured into a solo career prior to Takeoff’s tragic death, showcasing a unique and assertive musical style. His solo discography includes three albums: “Father of Four” (2019), “Set It Off” (2023), which aimed to revitalize the rap scene dominated by melodic rappers, and “Kiari” (2025), reflecting his authentic artistic expression and rebellion against conforming to external expectations.
