Hailing from Mont-Sainte-Anne, Que., Viel secured a score of 79.30 in the second men’s event, marking his fourth World Cup podium finish. Matt Graham of Australia claimed the top spot with 81.72 points, followed by Japan’s Ikuma Horishima with 80.58 points. Notably, Mikaël Kingsbury from Deux-Montagnes, Que., opted out of Monday’s event after withdrawing from the previous day’s competition due to a groin injury. Kingsbury, boasting 99 World Cup victories, cited his injury in a pre-event press briefing.
In the women’s event, Jakara Anthony of Australia dominated with a score of 79.89, leading the pack ahead of Americans Olivia Giaccio (78.64) and Jaelin Kauf (78.08). Berkley Brown from Aurora, Ont., emerged as the top Canadian performer with 67.59 points.
