Three young hockey players in Nova Scotia have been apprehended by the RCMP in connection with a sexual assault investigation concerning alleged hazing activities within a team in the Truro region. The incident came to light when a youth reported being assaulted during a team gathering in Colchester County in October 2025. Subsequently, an immediate investigation was launched, during which multiple witnesses provided statements, leading the police to discover that the offenses had transpired at various locations in Nova Scotia involving additional victims and witnesses.

Staff Sgt. Marc Rose, the district commander of Colchester County District RCMP, confirmed that at least three individuals had been identified as victims in the case. He emphasized the wide-ranging impact of the incident on the hockey team and the community, underscoring the need to provide assistance to those affected. As a result of the investigation, three young players were arrested on Tuesday, each facing a charge of sexual assault with a weapon. Furthermore, one of the players is also accused of sexual assault and assault with a weapon, while another faces charges of sexual assault and assault involving choking.

The ongoing investigation may lead to further charges being brought against the individuals involved, as stated by Rose. Hockey Nova Scotia has suspended the youth team in Truro amid the ongoing investigation, following the notification of a maltreatment allegation involving a minor. The matter was promptly reported to the RCMP and Hockey Canada’s Independent Third Party for handling complaints.

Police suspect there may be additional victims, possibly residing outside Colchester County. Rose acknowledged the difficulty victims may face in coming forward but assured them that they can disclose their experiences in a safe and supportive environment at their own pace. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact Colchester County District RCMP for assistance.

The primary focus remains on the welfare of the victims and minimizing the repercussions of the traumatic events. The safety and well-being of all members and the community are paramount, according to a statement from Hockey Nova Scotia.
