Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis will step in for Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point on Canada’s men’s hockey team at the upcoming Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The Canadian Olympic Committee revealed this change, citing Point’s absence due to an injury.
Point, a 29-year-old center from Calgary, sustained a knee injury during Tampa Bay’s recent 5-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on January 12. In his place, Jarvis, who has recorded 25 goals and 18 assists in 48 games for the Hurricanes this season, will join the Canadian squad. Jarvis was also part of the victorious Canadian team at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament last year.
Hailing from Winnipeg, the 24-year-old Jarvis boasts 121 goals and 256 points in 352 regular-season NHL appearances. His inclusion on the roster follows the substitution of Florida Panthers’ forward Sam Bennett for the injured Lightning center Anthony Cirelli.
The Canadian team is set to kick off the tournament against Czechia on February 12.
