The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its recall of pistachios due to potential salmonella contamination, now including various Peace by Chocolate and NuttyHero products.
The recent recall, announced on Friday, encompasses Peace by Chocolate bars and assorted chocolates distributed throughout Canada, either individually or as part of a mixed pack. Among the affected items are Dubai Style Chocolate Pistachio and Kunafa Bar, The Peace Maker Specialty Bars, Trans Canada Trail — Peace Seeker, the Classic Box, the Proudly Canadian box, and assorted filled chocolates.
Some of the Peace by Chocolate products may have custom labels for companies such as TD, Dexterra, First Onsite Property Restoration, and Tri-County Regional Centre for Education.
Additionally, NuttyHero nut and seed butters in maple cinnamon, coconut crunch, and chocolate bliss flavors have been newly added to the recall list.
Numerous pistachios and pistachio-containing products have been recalled across Canada in recent months due to salmonella concerns.
Consumers who suspect they have any of the recalled products are advised to dispose of them and seek medical attention if they experience any related illnesses. Salmonella-contaminated food may not display visible spoilage signs but can still cause sickness.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning may include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Vulnerable individuals, such as young children, pregnant women, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems, are at higher risk of severe illness.
