It has been almost 12 years since Sidney Crosby last won an Olympic gold medal.
From his iconic Golden Goal in 2010 to leading his team to victory in 2014, many believed this was just the beginning of Crosby’s Olympic success.
However, those aspirations were put on hold. NHL players did not participate in the 2018 Olympics due to a dispute between the league and the International Ice Hockey Federation. The COVID-19 pandemic also prevented an NHL return to the Olympics in 2022.
Now, at the age of 38, Crosby is making a comeback on the international stage, aiming for another gold medal. His captaincy of the team in Italy is almost certain.
“The uncertainty of missing the Olympics and now having the chance to return is a huge motivation for me,” Crosby stated in an exclusive interview with CBC Olympics host Ariel Helwani. “I am focused on making the most out of this opportunity.”

Crosby will be joined by NHL stars Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid, forming a strong forward group for Team Canada’s first game on Feb. 12.
While MacKinnon has tasted Stanley Cup victory, McDavid is still chasing his first Cup win. Winning Olympic gold would solidify his legacy in the sport.

Unlike McDavid, Macklin Celebrini, a 19-year-old San Jose Sharks player, missed the 4 Nations Face-Off but will now be part of the Olympic team.
Celebrini earned his spot on the team through his impressive performance, showcasing his potential to be a valuable asset alongside Crosby and McDavid.
