A flood watch has been issued for Gagetown, a village near Fredericton, with the possibility of escalating to a warning level by Monday, indicating imminent flooding necessitating immediate precautionary actions, as per the River Watch website.
Nearby areas are also under advisories, including Jemseg village, located southeast of Fredericton, expected to meet watch criteria by Monday and potentially escalate to a warning status by Wednesday.
In Fredericton, sections of the downtown riverfront walking trail are already being submerged by water. However, River Watch anticipates it may not officially meet watch criteria until Tuesday.
The New Brunswick government emphasizes the hazards of floodwaters being both “dangerous and unpredictable,” advising individuals to avoid contact with flooded areas. Motorists are warned against driving through flooded roads due to potential hidden dangers beneath the surface.
