Valerie Maltais Secures Double Silver at World Cup

Canadian speed skater Valerie Maltais secured two silver medals at the conclusion of the World Cup event held on Sunday. Maltais, representing Saguenay, Quebec, finished second in the women’s mass start with a time of 8 minutes and 25.62 seconds. The gold in this event was claimed by Mia Manganello from the United States with a time of 8:25.57, and Ji-Woo Park from South Korea took the bronze with a time of 9:01.80.

In the women’s team pursuit, Maltais, along with Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann from Ottawa, clinched the silver medal with a time of 2 minutes and 52.40 seconds. Japan secured the gold with a time of 2:52.13, while the United States settled for the bronze with a time of 2:54.01.

Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu from Sherbrooke, Quebec, secured a bronze medal in the men’s mass start event, the final competition of the day. Gelinas-Beaulieu completed the event in 7 minutes and 40.31 seconds, finishing behind Jorrit Bergsma from the Netherlands (7:39.20) and Felix Maly from Germany (7:40.17).
