Must read

Megan Thee Stallion was swiftly taken to the hospital after experiencing severe illness during her performance in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway. She later shared on social media that she had been pushing herself beyond her limits recently.

According to a spokesperson speaking to Variety, the singer started feeling unwell during Tuesday’s show, leading to an understudy taking over while she sought medical attention. Doctors diagnosed her with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels. After receiving treatment, she was discharged to rest.

The Grammy-winning rapper announced on Instagram that she would be taking a break from Wednesday’s performances to recuperate. She reassured her fans that she would return to the stage on Thursday, rejuvenated and fully ready to deliver a stellar performance.

Reflecting on the incident, Megan Thee Stallion admitted that it was a wake-up call for her. She confessed to pushing herself too hard, leaving her body depleted. The artist revealed her fear of fainting onstage and acknowledged her inability to power through the performance.

Making her debut on Broadway last week as Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, Megan Thee Stallion was scheduled to conclude her eight-week run on May 17. Notable personalities who have previously taken on the role of Zidler include Boy George, Wayne Brady, Tituss Burgess, and Bob the Drag Queen.

Based on Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film, Megan Thee Stallion holds the distinction of being the first female-identifying performer to portray the MC in a professional production of the musical worldwide. Embracing the challenge, she expressed enthusiasm for exploring her creativity in a new theatrical setting.

Citing previous incidents, other musicians like Ace Frehley, Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey have also faced hospitalization due to exhaustion from their demanding schedules. The Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set to conclude its successful seven-year run on July 26, featuring modern hits like Single Ladies and Firework alongside classics like Lady Marmalade.
