During their upcoming four-day U.S. state visit starting Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla will engage in various activities, including a private tea, a garden party, and two significant speeches—one at a state dinner and the other at the U.S. Congress.
Although the visit is occurring amid strained U.S.-U.K. relations, with tensions over the Iran war and criticisms from President Donald Trump, the royal couple will focus on their scheduled engagements, highlighting the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Despite the current circumstances, the visit will follow the typical agenda of a state visit, emphasizing the historical and cultural ties between the two nations.
The itinerary includes a private tea with President Trump and the First Lady, a garden party uniting guests from both countries, ceremonial military reviews to commemorate the military alliance, and bilateral meetings between the royal couple and the Trumps.
One of the highlights will be King Charles’s rare address to the U.S. Congress, only the second time a British monarch has done so. The state dinner speeches by Charles and Trump will also draw attention.
The visit will end with engagements in New York and Virginia, focusing on charitable initiatives, cultural exchanges, and commemorating significant events like the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Notably absent from the itinerary are meetings with Prince Harry or Epstein survivors, as such encounters could overshadow the diplomatic purpose of the visit and raise legal and political complexities.
