The pop star shared that he had been in rehab for several months, sought support from family, and started seeing a therapist and psychiatrist to manage his condition. Embracing the need for medication, he humorously described his life as “extreme hard-mode” as a black, gay, and bipolar individual.
Despite the challenges, the singer expressed optimism about his well-being, creativity, and hinted at new music on the horizon, marking his first release in over a year. Notably, he did not directly address the Los Angeles charges in his social media post.
In the previous incident, Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, faced allegations of confronting police officers while nearly naked on an L.A. street in August 2025. Three officers were reportedly injured during the encounter, which was captured in photos and videos showing him in white briefs and boots. After a brief jail stay, he posted bail and pleaded not guilty to felony charges of battery on a police officer and resisting an executive officer.
Following the legal proceedings, the artist shared a video on Instagram expressing relief and confidence in overcoming the ordeal. Subsequently, a judge approved his entry into a mental health diversion program, offering the opportunity to have the charges dismissed with compliance to a treatment plan over two years. The court attributed the incident to his bipolar disorder, noting it as an unusual event compared to his typical behavior.
Lil Nas X rose to fame with his breakout hit “Old Town Road” in 2019, blending country and hip-hop elements.
