“Vicky Mboko & Felix Auger-Aliassime Named Tennis Canada Players of the Year”

Canadian tennis players Vicky Mboko and Felix Auger-Aliassime were honored by Tennis Canada as the women’s and men’s players of the year, respectively. Mboko, hailing from Burlington, Ontario, had an impressive season with a 62-14 record, propelling her from 350th to 18th in the world rankings. She secured her first WTA Tour title as a wildcard at the Montreal event, defeating top players like Sofia Kenin and Naomi Osaka.

Mboko continued her success by clinching the Hong Kong Open title, marking her breakout season. Auger-Aliassime, on the other hand, claimed three ATP Tour titles and reached a career-high No. 5 in the rankings. Tennis Canada CEO Gavin Ziv praised the exceptional year for Canadian tennis, highlighting the achievements of both players.

In addition to Mboko and Auger-Aliassime, Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Calgary’s Cleeve Harper were recognized as the women’s and men’s doubles players of the year. Montreal’s Gabriel Diallo was named the most improved men’s player, while Thomas Venos of New Westminster, British Columbia, received the wheelchair player of the year award.
